Freedom Plaza GA says NO to NOW DC

Contrary to rumors and erroneous posts on unrelated sites and lists, Freedom Plaza GA chose unanimously not to endorse  NOW DC.  It was further resolved to work closely with other Occupy sites for a national Occupation in DC in the Spring but, the American Spring will not be under the NOW DC banner at Freedom Plaza.

  1. Guy,

There is a meeting Sunday to discuss this…

There was no unanimous vote to not endorse…the issue was tabled for further discussion.

Scott – You have not been at a Freedom Plaza GA for quite some time and so one wonders just who told you that this vote never took place? No need to answer here but just ask yourself because you are the victim of disinformation.

  2. Many people who were at last Sunday and Monday’s GA say it was tabled not voted down…At Mondays there was a vote in favor of endorsing before it was tabled. You are the only one who says there was a unanimous vote against…that is why a joint GA has been called for Sunday night…

The vote against the endorsement was taken on Friday on the Plaza with Plaza occupiers. The Sunday “GA” you are referring to was actually a conference call, not a GA at all and having no standing as such. To call a phone call a “telephonic GA” and to cite it as a decision making “vote” is farcical, misleading and manipulative. Even those trying to railroad this “endorsement” through realized this and knew they would have to bring it to a real GA on the plaza. When they did, you are right it was tabled and a face to face with those presenting it called for. That will be Sunday. Things may change at that face to face but, as of now, the only vote ever taken on endorsement of NOW DC taken by Freedom Plaza GA was a flat rejection; and it did take place.
